Archery Guyana Participates in National Sports Commission Seminar and gets set to host Part II Hosts Wellness Initiative tomorrow
Friday, Mar 6Archery Guyana continues to strengthen its commitment to athlete welfare, education, and development through active participation in national training initiatives and the hosting of its own wellness-focused programmes.
On Friday, February 27, 2026, representatives of the Federation participated in a seminar hosted by the National Sports Commission in collaboration with the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation Physiotherapy Department at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall. The seminar formed part of a broader national effort to strengthen athlete care and promote evidence-based approaches to injury prevention, recovery, and performance management.
Archery Guyana formally sanctioned the participation of eleven representatives from across its membership, including athletes, coaches, and technical officials. Those in attendance were Narda Mohamed-Mangra, Anand Mangra, Sean Duncan, Nolan Gray, Grayson Hooper, Michael Forde, Dwain Albert, Rovindra Singh, Ramnarine Ragoobar, Jeewanram Persaud and Karin Toppin.
The Federation expressed its appreciation to Director of Sport Mr. Steve Ninvalle and ADoS Franklin Wilson and Melissa Dow-Richardson of the National Sports Commission for facilitating initiatives that strengthen athlete support systems across the sporting community. Special thanks were also extended to Dr. Ariane Mangar and the Physiotherapy Department of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation for their partnership in delivering valuable technical knowledge to athletes and coaches.
Building on this momentum and the first workshop hosted in December 2025 by the Federation, Archery Guyana is also set to host Part II of its Wellness and Nutrition in Archery Seminar tomorrow, on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the National Racquet Centre. This interactive session will focus on key aspects of athlete wellness, including nutrition, recovery, and overall health practices essential for performance both on and off the field. The seminar forms part of a series of activities organised by the Federation in recognition of International Women’s Day, highlighting the importance of holistic wellness within sport and encouraging greater participation and leadership by women in archery.
The event is being hosted in collaboration with the Guyana Physiotherapists Association, the National Sports Clinic, and the Ministry of Health.
Archery Guyana remains committed to advancing athlete education, strengthening technical capacity, and fostering a sporting environment where health, wellness, and performance go hand in hand.
