Archery Guyana Salutes Guyana on its 56th Republic Anniversary and Reaffirms Commitment to National Development Through Sport

On this proud and historic occasion of the 56th Anniversary of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, the Board of Directors of Archery Guyana extends heartfelt congratulations and patriotic greetings to His Excellency the President, Dr. Irfaan Ali, the Government, and the people of our beloved Republic.
Republic Day stands as a powerful reminder of our sovereignty, resilience, and the enduring spirit of the Guyanese people. It is a celebration of national pride, unity in diversity, and our collective commitment to building a stronger, more equitable nation. As a national sporting federation, Archery Guyana remains deeply aligned with these ideals, recognising sport as a vital instrument of nation-building, youth empowerment, and social transformation.
As we honour our Republic, we also reaffirm our responsibility to contribute meaningfully to Guyana’s development through structured programming, inclusive leadership, and excellence in sport.
In keeping with the national theme of empowerment and advancement, we take this opportunity to let you all know that Archery Guyana’s Women in Sport Commission has launched a special spotlight initiative in the lead-up to International Women’s Day 2026.
Nominees from across the federation, including women archers, coaches, club members, committee members and administrators, have been invited to share short personal quotes or advice aimed at inspiring young women and girls interested in archery and sport leadership. These features will be released progressively in the days leading up to International Women’s Day starting March 1st.
This initiative reflects not only a celebration of women in sport, but a broader commitment to strengthening leadership, representation, and opportunity within our Republic. The campaign highlights the resilience, discipline, and growing impact of women who are shaping the future of archery in Guyana.
As part of its structured approach to growth and inclusion, Archery Guyana will also launch a comprehensive survey targeting female archers, coaches, and administrators. The survey will gather insights into their experiences, challenges, and opportunities within the sport.
The findings will inform policy direction, strengthen programming, and enhance the overall environment for women within the Federation. This initiative underscores our commitment to evidence-based decision-making and sustainable development in alignment with national progress.
Additionally, as part of its upcoming activities, Archery Guyana will host Part Two of its Nutrition and Wellness Seminar on Saturday, 7th March 2026, in collaboration with the Guyana Physiotherapy Association and the Ministry of Health.
This partnership reflects the Federation’s holistic approach to athlete development emphasising physical health, education, injury prevention, and long-term well-being. Such collaborations demonstrate how sport, health, and national institutions can work together in advancing the welfare of our citizens.
As President of Archery Guyana, I take this opportunity to reaffirm the Board’s steadfast commitment to advancing gender equity, strengthening leadership pathways, and fostering an inclusive sporting environment where every athlete and administrator can thrive.
On this 56th Republic Anniversary, we renew our pledge to serve Guyana with integrity, excellence, and patriotic pride. May our continued efforts in sport contribute to a stronger, healthier, and more united Republic.
