Archery Guyana affiliates new club: ProArchers Guyana

Guyana's Target Archery athletes Devin Permaul and Roshini Boodhoo have completed their qualification rounds at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo on Friday 24th July, 2026.

In their individual recurve quests under sweltering conditions and high humidity, Permaul, seeded 25th in the Recurve Men event. He will move to the next phase of the competition, the elimination round matches, where he will face 8th-seeded Adrian Muñoz Rodríguez of Puerto Rico in the Round of 16.

While Boodhoo, seeded 29th in the tournament, will take on 4th seeded and world number 6 ranked Ana Paula Vázquez Flores of Mexico.

The matches will be contested under the World Archery Olympic set system, with the first archer to reach six set points advancing to the next round.

Traveling with the athletes is National Head Coach Ryan McKinnon who together with President of the Federation Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon praised both athletes for their hard work and preparation leading up to this point. 

Archery Guyana's President said: "Devin and Roshini have worked tirelessly to reach this level of competition. Qualifying for and now able to represent our nation Guyana at the Central American and Caribbean Games is an achievement in itself, and we are proud of their dedication and commitment. We wish them every success as they compete against some of the world's best archers."

Both athletes will next compete on Sunday 26th July 2026, with Boodhoo shooting at 2:00 p.m. and Permaul at 3:30 p.m. local time. The live scoring can be followed online at www.ianseo.net

Guyana's Mixed Archery Team start the Central American and Caribbean Games

Archery Guyana's athletes Devin Permaul and Roshini Boodhoo, who will represent Guyana in archery at the XXV Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games as part of the Guyana Olympic Association's national delegation, have been accompanied by National Head Coach Ryan McKinnon.

The Central American and Caribbean Games remain one of the oldest and most prestigious regional multi-sport events in the world, bringing together the Caribbean's and Central America's finest athletes in a celebration of sporting excellence, unity and friendship. For Guyana's archers, qualification to compete at this level reflects dedication, disciplined training and unwavering commitment to representing the Golden Arrowhead with pride.

Archery Guyana extends its sincere appreciation to the President Godfrey Munroe and the executive committee of the Guyana Olympic Association for its continued leadership and support in facilitating the participation of Team Guyana at these Games. The Federation also acknowledges the guidance of Chef-de-Mission Kenisha Headley and Deputy Chef Roger Callender for their commitment to ensuring that Guyana's athletes are afforded the opportunity to compete on the regional stage.

President Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon, on behalf of Archery Guyana, stated "Representing Guyana at the Central American and Caribbean Games is a tremendous achievement and an honour earned through commitment, perseverance and hard work. Archery Guyana Proudly Backs National Team at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games

Archery Guyana successfully concluded its National Youth 18 Metres Championships 2026 on Sunday 12th July, 2026 at the Guyana Police Force SportsClub Ground, Eve Leary, bringing the curtains down on an exciting weekend ofcompetition that showcased the country's emerging generation of archers.

Following Saturday's qualification rounds, the championship culminated yesterday with the highly anticipated elimination and medal matches, where 31 young athletes representing school and private clubs demonstrated exceptional skill, discipline, determination, and sportsmanship.

President of Archery Guyana, Mrs. Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon, delivered the closing remarks during the medal presentation ceremony, congratulating everyathlete for their dedication and courage while encouraging them to continuestriving for excellence both on and off the shooting line.

In her remarks, Mrs. Persaud-McKinnon commended not only the medallists butevery participant, emphasising that every competition provides an opportunityto learn, improve, and grow. She also expressed sincere appreciation to the various affiliated clubs, coaches, parents, volunteers, technical officials,sponsors, and partners whose unwavering commitment continues to strengthen the development of youth archery throughout Guyana.

Curtains Close on Successful National Youth 18 Metres Championships 2026 as Guyana's Young Archers Shine

A total of 31 athletes from various school clubs and private clubs participated in the National Youth 18 Metres Championships 2026, held earlier today with the Qualification rounds, Saturday 11th July , 2026 at the Guyana Police Force Sports Club Ground, Eve Leary. 

The championship showcased the growing strength of youth archery in Guyana, with young athletes demonstrating discipline, focus, and determination in a competitive environment.

Archery Guyana extends sincere appreciation to Commissioner of Police Dr. Clifton Hicken and Mr. Colin Boyce, Sports Development Officer for the Guyana Police Force (GPF) and Retired Deputy Superintendent, for their invaluable support in facilitating the successful hosting of the event at the Guyana Police Force Sports Club Ground.

Special thanks are also extended to the management and staff of Guyana Beverages Inc. for providing Oasis Water and Altitude drinks, ensuring that athletes, officials, and volunteers remained hydrated throughout the day’s activities.

The event was further supported by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, the National Sports Commission, and Director of Sport Mr. Steve Ninvalle.

A highlight of the day was the presence of Honourable Minister Steven Jacobs, Minister within the Ministry of,l Vulture, Youth and Sport who spent time on the ground engaging with the young athletes, learning more about the sport of archery, and offering words of encouragement and inspiration about success, resilience, and learning from failure in sport.

The championship will continue with the finals tomorrow on Sunday, July 12, 2026, where the top-ranked athletes will compete for national youth championship honours in the recurve under 15 men and women combined, barebow under 15 women and Barebow under 18 men.

31 Young Archers Compete at the National Youth 18 Metres Championships 2026

Archery Guyana proudly announces the successful participation of its Results Manager, Mr. Saeed Karim, in the Advanced IANSEO Seminar hosted by World Archery Mexico, in collaboration with World Archery Americas, in Tlaxcala, Mexico, from July 20-21, 2026, immediately preceding the Pan American Archery Championships.

The prestigious seminar was conducted by Mr. Matteo Pisani, the inventor and one of the principal founders of the IANSEO results management system, the internationally recognised software used to manage scoring and results at World Archery events, Continental Championships, World Championships and the Olympic Games.

The programme brought together results managers from across the Americas, including representatives from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Guyana, with the objective of preparing technical officials to competently manage results at World Ranking Events and other elite international competitions.

During the intensive two-day seminar, participants received advanced instruction on the operation of the IANSEO platform, including demonstrations of its sophisticated features, reviews of core functionality, and practical guidance on international standards for competition results management. Mr. Pisani also shared his extensive experience gained from managing results at Olympic Games, World Championships and other premiere international archery competitions, highlighting the mandatory technical requirements and global best practices expected at both national and international events.

Reflecting on the experience, Mr. Saeed Karim stated: "It was a great pleasure to learn directly from the inventor of IANSEO. I now have a much deeper understanding of the software and how we can continue improving the standard of results management in Guyana. The opportunity to immediately apply what I learned at a world-ranking event made the experience even more valuable."

Following the seminar, Mr. Karim remained in Tlaxcala as a volunteer member of the Results Team for the Pan American Archery Championships, where he gained invaluable practical experience managing live competition results at a World Ranking Event. His dedication and technical competence culminated in his appointment as a scorer for the championship finals, providing him with first-hand experience at one of the highest levels of international competition management.

Archery Guyana Strengthens Technical Capacity Through Advanced IANSEO Seminar in Mexico

Archery Guyana has welcomed what it has described as a highly productive and encouraging meeting with the National Sports Commission, led by Director of Sport, Mr. Steve Ninvalle, as part of the Commission’s comprehensive engagement with all affiliated sports associations for the 2026 calendar year.

During the meeting, Mrs. Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon, President of Archery Guyana, commended Director Ninvalle and the two Assistant Directors of Sport, Ms. Melissa Dow-Richardson and Mr. Franklin Wilson of the NSC for their proactive and structured approach to collaboration with national sporting bodies. She welcomed the platform for the Archery federation to present their updated externally audited financial statements, achievements to date, plans, share objectives, and discuss how the NSC can provide meaningful support for development programmes and international competitions.

Persaud-McKinnon also took the opportunity to share exciting updates regarding Guyana’s hosting of the Caribbean Development Championships (CDC) in October 2026, highlighting Archery Guyana’s ongoing preparations and plans for this major international event. She emphasised the significance of CDC2026 as a milestone for the sport, providing local athletes with an international competitive platform and showcasing Guyana’s commitment to sports excellence.

“This meeting represents exactly the kind of collaboration we need to grow sport in Guyana,” Persaud-McKinnon said. “We are grateful to the support of the NSC and we are thrilled to continue to collaborate with the NSC as the Federation makes significant preparations for the upcoming Caribbean Development Championships scheduled for October 19–26, 2026, at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence. President of the Federation reported that the Guyana National Stadium has been secured for this period, thanks to the unwavering support of the Honourable Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Mr. Charles Ramson Jnr., and Hon. Minister within the Ministry, Mr. Stephen Jacobs. Their commitment ensures that the archery world and athletes, coaches, and officials will have access to a world-class facility to prepare and participate at the highest level. "Collaboration is essential to the growth of sport in Guyana," said Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon, President of Archery Guyana. 

The Board of Directors of Archery Guyana reiterated that structured collaboration with the National Sports Commission is critical to aligning our efforts and ensuring that our sport continues to develop sustainably.

"We are grateful to the NSC for creating this platform," Persaud-McKinnon added. "These engagements represent an important step forward, not only for archery but for all sports in Guyana, as we work together to build stronger programmes, develop talent, and elevate our presence internationally."


Archery Guyana Welcomes Productive Engagement with the National Sports Commission (N.S.C.)

Archery Guyana proudly kicked off the highly anticipated 2024 Senior Barebow Open on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the National Gymnasium. The event was officially declared open by President Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon, who delivered inspiring opening remarks to the assembled athletes, officials, coaches, club representatives, sponsors, media and spectators.

In her address, President Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon celebrated the unwavering dedication of Guyana’s archery community, stating, “Today we celebrate the skill, focus, and sportsmanship that define archery. This event highlights the growth of barebow archery in Guyana and the dedication of our athletes who continue to elevate the sport. Whether they achieve victory or face challenges, their journey defines success.”

President Persaud-McKinnon also expressed gratitude to the Honourable Minister of Culture, Youth, and Sport, Charles Ramson; Director of Sport, Mr. Steve Ninvalle; the National Sports Commission; President Godfrey Munroe and the Executive Committee of the Guyana Olympic Association; Mr. Samuel Arjoon of Guyana Beverages Inc., Oasis Water and members of the media for their invaluable support.

Following her remarks, Director of Shooting Mr. Ryan McKinnon introduced the officials, including Chairman of Judges Robert Singh, Judges Afzal Karim and Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon, and the Results Team, led by Chair of the Tech Committee, Mr. Saeed Karim, along with Anopa Ramdial and Idrees Shakeem.

The competition commenced with an official equipment inspection, followed by 20 minutes of practice. Athletes then proceeded to the ranking rounds, consisting of 20 ends of three arrows each, totaling 60 arrows.

For the first time, Archery Guyana is utilising the globally recognised IANSEO software for live scoring. This technology ensures immediate updates of results, offering real-time insights for athletes, coaches, and fans alike. Archery Guyana’s 2024 Senior Barebow Open Officially Declared Open


On Sunday 25th May, 2024, a simple Affiliation Ceremony and Breakfast Gathering was held at the Grand Coastal Inn. In a warm and symbolic gesture of unity and growth, Archery Guyana formally welcomed Bow Nation Archery Club into its national fold.


The event, hosted over breakfast, brought together the leadership of Archery Guyana and the newly affiliated Bow Nation in an atmosphere of camaraderie, vision-sharing, and commitment to the advancement of the sport.


President of Archery Guyana, Mrs. Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon, in delivering remarks, stated, “Today marks a significant milestone, not just for Bow Nation Archery Club, but for the entire archery community in Guyana.” She emphasised the importance of such moments that embody unity, development, and the shared love of archery.


Mrs. Persaud-McKinnon commended Bow Nation for its visible enthusiasm and initiative. “To the members and directors of Bow Nation: thank you for your passion, your vision, and your commitment to aligning with the standards of the national federation,” she noted. “On behalf of the Executive Committee of Archery Guyana, I extend heartfelt congratulations, and I invite you to continue working alongside the National Federation to ensure archery becomes a strong pillar of opportunity and transformation across Guyana.”


The highlight of the morning was the official presentation of the Certificate of Affiliation to Bow Nation's President, Mr. Jeewanram Persaud, by Mrs. Persaud-McKinnon — an act that formally sealed the club’s standing as an affiliated club of the national federation.


Delivering remarks on behalf of Bow Nation was Secretary Ms. Roshini Boodhoo-Persaud, who expressed sincere gratitude to Archery Guyana’s Board of Directors for their guidance and support. She reaffirmed Bow Nation’s commitment to upholding the values and principles of the national federation and pledged to work in harmony with Archery Guyana in fostering discipline, excellence, and opportunity in the sport.


Mrs. Boodhoo-Persaud also formally introduced the executive members of Bow Nation Archery Club as follows:
