MVP Sports comes on board as sponsor of the 2026 Caribbean Development Championships and Inaugural Caribbean Cup to be hosted in Guyana at the Providence National Stadium from October 21-25, 2026.

The Board of Directors of Archery Guyana is pleased to announce a new collaboration with MVP Sports, strengthening the partnership between Guyana’s sporting community and the private sector while supporting the continued development and promotion of archery in Guyana.

MVP Sports has come on board as a sponsor and the collaboration represents more than support for a single championship. It reflects a shared commitment to creating greater opportunities for athletes, raising the profile of archery and contributing to the growth of the sport at the international level.

MVP Sports has established itself as a significant supporter of Guyanese sport, with its involvement extending across several sporting disciplines. The company has also received recognition from the National Sports Commission for its contribution to sport, including Corporate Sponsor of the Year recognition.

For Archery Guyana, collaboration with businesses such as MVP Sports is an important component of building a sustainable sporting structure. President of Archery Guyana, Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon, welcomed the collaboration. “We are delighted to welcome MVP Sports into the Archery Guyana family. This collaboration is particularly meaningful because the development of sport cannot rest on the shoulders of the federation alone. It requires government, the private sector and sporting organisations to work together to create opportunities for our athletes.”

She added: “Hosting the Caribbean Development Championships and the inaugural Caribbean Cup is an important milestone for archery in Guyana. Having a company such as MVP Sports recognise the value of archery and come alongside us demonstrates confidence in our athletes and in the future of the sport.”

The federation looks forward to building on this collaboration beyond the 2026 championships and exploring further opportunities through which MVP Sports and Archery Guyana can work together to support athletes and promote the sport.

MVP Sports partners with Archery Guyana to support the 2026 archery championships to be hosted in Guyana

The Board of Directors of Archery Guyana proudly congratulates young archer Ravish Singh on his successful participation in the Olympic Youth Camp Tobago 2026, held from August 23–28, 2026 where he represented Guyana alongside young participants from across the Caribbean.

Ravish's participation followed a structured and competitive selection process conducted by Archery Guyana after the Federation was invited to nominate one youth participant for the regional Olympic youth development programme.

Recognising the importance of ensuring a fair and transparent process, Archery Guyana developed specific selection criteria aligned with both the requirements of the Olympic Youth Camp and the Federation's objectives for youth development.

Five nominations were received and considered. To ensure that the final decision was not simply based on a single individual's assessment, Archery Guyana established a five-member Selection Panel comprising representatives from different clubs: Narda Mohammed, Kenrick Cheeks, Samira Duncan, Karin Toppin and Melissa Ramnarine.

The Selection Panel met to deliberate on the five nominations, applying an agreed grading system, followed by a vote. Following the first round of voting, there was a clear winner, with Ravish Singh emerging as the selected nominee.

Archery Guyana subsequently communicated with the unsuccessful nominees, thanking them for the quality of their applications and encouraging them to pursue future opportunities.

The Federation also wishes to formally acknowledge the Selection Panel for the time, care and professionalism demonstrated in undertaking what was recognised as a difficult task in selecting one nominee from a strong field.

The Olympic Youth Camp provided Ravish with an opportunity to develop not only as an athlete, but as a young leader and ambassador.

During the camp, he interacted with young people from different Caribbean countries and athletes from a variety of sporting disciplines.

The programme included sessions on Olympic history, careers in sport, nutrition, mental health and wellbeing, anger management, conflict resolution, sustainability, responsibility and career planning, alongside sporting and cultural activities.

Ravish also participated in team-building activities, including a supervised breakfast preparation exercise.

His conduct and personal responsibility were further recognised when he received an award for having the cleanest room at the youth camp.

Reflecting on his experience, Ravish said: “It was honestly an amazing experience. I got to meet and interact with young people from different Caribbean countries and athletes from different sports, including netball, volleyball, and of course, archery.”

Archery Guyana extends its sincere appreciation to President Godfrey Munroe and the Executive Committee of the Guyana Olympic Association for providing Ravish with this valuable international youth development opportunity and for supporting opportunities that expose young Guyanese athletes to leadership, education, cultural exchange and the Olympic values of Excellence, Friendship and Respect.

President of Archery Guyana, Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon, said: “For us, youth development is about much more than producing athletes. We want to develop young people who are disciplined, responsible, confident and capable of becoming future leaders and ambassadors for their sport and their country.”

Archery Guyana also extends congratulations to the other members of the Guyanese contingent, Tesianna Harris, who represented Guyana in track and field, and Crystal Persaud, who served as chaperone. We are pleased that Ravish was able to share this experience with fellow Guyanese representatives and to contribute to the country's participation in this important regional youth development initiative.

Elle & Vire joins the Archery Championships in support of Guyanese athletes and regional sport

Archery Guyana is delighted to announce that Cirkel Distributors Inc. has come on board as a corporate supporter of the 2026 Archery Championships, bringing with it not only valuable corporate support, but also a Taste of France through Elle & Vire yoghurt.

The partnership follows an encouraging meeting at Cirkel Distributors’ Head Office between Archery Guyana President Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon, General Manager Shafeez Alli and Marketing Manager Rudy Jairam.

Cirkel has committed financial support towards the Championships and is also exploring significant in-kind and promotional support.

Through Elle & Vire, Cirkel will bring a taste of 100 % French Origin dairy excellence to the Championships, with plans for product giveaways and educational and promotional activities throughout the competition. Cirkel will also have a dedicated table and tent presence at the venue, allowing spectators and participants to engage directly with the brand.

Archery Guyana President Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon welcomed the partnership: “We are excited to welcome Cirkel and Elle & Vire to the Archery family. The partnership represents another example of Corporate Guyana investing in sport, youth and national pride, while helping Archery Guyana deliver a Championships that will showcase Guyana to the wider Caribbean.

Cirkel Brings a 'Taste of Real' Out of France to Archery Championships 2026.

Archery Guyana’s Development Competition 2026 concluded yesterday at the Farm Community Centre Ground, East Bank Demerara, bringing two days of competition to a close with a strong display of Guyana’s emerging and established archery talent.

Held on August 29th to the 30th, 2026, the competition featured athletes across Beginner, Developmental, Under-15, Under-18 and senior categories, competing in Recurve, Compound and Barebow disciplines. The official results were recorded after 72 arrows.

The competition was designed not simply as a contest for medals, but as an important development platform, giving new archers their first taste of competition while challenging developing athletes to shoot longer distances and compete at higher levels.

The weekend produced a number of strong performances. Trevaughn Waldron won Recurve Men with 537 points, Saifullah Gani took Recurve Under-18 Men with 581, and Brandon Cummings topped Recurve Under-15 with 647. In Recurve Developmental, Nolan Gray finished first with 608 points.

The strength of the junior programme was also evident. Nehan Chaturgum won the Recurve Exceptional Beginner Under-11 category with 640 points, while Jeremiah Archer won Recurve Developmental Under-15 with 604 points. Alec Simmons topped Barebow Developmental Under-15 with 546 points.

Archers from the Federation, Bow Nation, Archery Guild, Golden League Archery, Pro Archers and Qayyim Archery completed over the last weekend.

At the closing medal ceremony, the President of Archery Guyana Mrs. Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon congratulated the athletes and thanked the coaches, parents, officials, volunteers and supporters for making the competition a success.

Reflecting on the two days of competition, the President noted that this weekend's competition is preparation for tomorrow’s bigger stages... from Beginner, to Development, to National, Regional and International competition.

The President also told the gathering "Wear your medals proudly, but don't let them become your finish line. And to those who didn't medal: learn, adjust and come back stronger.”

Attention now turns to the next major challenge for Guyana’s archers.

From October 22–26, 2026, Guyana will host the international championships at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence.

“We are not just preparing to participate—we are preparing to host, compete and showcase what Guyana can do.”

President Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon extended special appreciation to the technical team whose work helped ensure the successful conduct of the competition:

Archery Guyana Development Competition 2026 Concludes with a Celebration of Talent, Progress and the Future of the Sport

The Board of Directors of Archery Guyana is pleased to announce a continued collaboration with the Tourism & Hospitality Association of Guyana (THAG) to create a vibrant tourism and hospitality presence during the 2026 Caribbean Development Championships (CDC) and Inaugural Caribbean Cup, being hosted in Guyana from October 21–25, 2026 at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence.

The collaboration forms part of a broader national effort to position Guyana not only as an emerging sporting destination in the Caribbean, but also as one of the region’s most distinctive destinations for eco-tourism, heritage, culture, cuisine, adventure and hospitality.

Through the partnership, THAG and Archery Guyana will work together to introduce visiting athletes, coaches, officials, delegates, families and spectators from across the Caribbean and the Americas to the many experiences Guyana has to offer.

A key component will be the promotion of Explore Guyana Magazine, together with QR-enabled access to digital tourism resources, allowing international visitors to discover Guyana’s tourism attractions, hospitality providers, eco-adventures, cultural experiences, cuisine, entertainment and community-based tourism offerings before and during the championships.

The initiative reflects the growing importance of sport tourism and the Orange Economy, bringing together sport, tourism, culture and the creative industries to generate economic opportunities, strengthen local businesses and enhance Guyana’s international visibility.

President of Archery Guyana, Mrs. Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon, said the championships provide an opportunity to showcase Guyana well beyond the competition field. “When we invite the Caribbean archery family to Guyana, we want them to leave with more than medals and memories of the competition. We want them to discover Guyana ...... our people, our culture, our food, our biodiversity and our extraordinary hospitality. Sport gives us the platform; tourism allows us to tell the fuller Guyanese story.”

THAG Executive Director Mrs. Oslyn Kirton welcomed the partnership, noting the important role sport tourism can play in expanding Guyana’s tourism economy. “Tourism should be one of Guyana’s new frontiers for economic growth. Sport tourism creates opportunities for communities, businesses, creatives, hospitality providers and young people alike. Partnerships such as this with Archery Guyana allow us to showcase authentic Guyanese experiences while ensuring visitors engage meaningfully with our people, culture and destinations.”

The collaboration was discussed earlier in the year at a meeting held at THAG’s office on Waterloo Street, Georgetown, where the representatives explored opportunities to connect the international archery community with Guyana’s tourism and hospitality sector.

THAG has also demonstrated its support for Guyana’s growing role within the international archery community through its support for the World Archery Americas (WAA) General Assembly held in June 2026 in Tlaxcala, Mexico. This partnership will continue with THAG maintaining a visible presence during the upcoming championships at the Guyana National Stadium, providing an important link between the sporting event and the wider tourism and hospitality industry.

The CDC and Inaugural Caribbean Cup are expected to bring athletes, officials and supporters from across the Caribbean and the wider Americas to Guyana, providing a valuable platform for local tourism operators, restaurants, attractions and other businesses to engage with an international audience.

For Archery Guyana, the partnership represents an important part of its vision for the championships: to host an international sporting event that creates a lasting legacy not only for archery, but for Guyana.


Archery Guyana and THAG Partner to Showcase Destination Guyana at the 2026 Archery Championships 

Archery Guyana proudly kicked off the highly anticipated 2024 Senior Barebow Open on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the National Gymnasium. The event was officially declared open by President Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon, who delivered inspiring opening remarks to the assembled athletes, officials, coaches, club representatives, sponsors, media and spectators.

In her address, President Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon celebrated the unwavering dedication of Guyana’s archery community, stating, “Today we celebrate the skill, focus, and sportsmanship that define archery. This event highlights the growth of barebow archery in Guyana and the dedication of our athletes who continue to elevate the sport. Whether they achieve victory or face challenges, their journey defines success.”

President Persaud-McKinnon also expressed gratitude to the Honourable Minister of Culture, Youth, and Sport, Charles Ramson; Director of Sport, Mr. Steve Ninvalle; the National Sports Commission; President Godfrey Munroe and the Executive Committee of the Guyana Olympic Association; Mr. Samuel Arjoon of Guyana Beverages Inc., Oasis Water and members of the media for their invaluable support.

Following her remarks, Director of Shooting Mr. Ryan McKinnon introduced the officials, including Chairman of Judges Robert Singh, Judges Afzal Karim and Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon, and the Results Team, led by Chair of the Tech Committee, Mr. Saeed Karim, along with Anopa Ramdial and Idrees Shakeem.

The competition commenced with an official equipment inspection, followed by 20 minutes of practice. Athletes then proceeded to the ranking rounds, consisting of 20 ends of three arrows each, totaling 60 arrows.

For the first time, Archery Guyana is utilising the globally recognised IANSEO software for live scoring. This technology ensures immediate updates of results, offering real-time insights for athletes, coaches, and fans alike. Archery Guyana’s 2024 Senior Barebow Open Officially Declared Open


The Board of Directors of Archery Guyana is proud to announce that Lucas Chung and Karin Toppin, together with Coach Jeewanram Persaud, have been selected to participate in a prestigious High-Performance Training Camp in Asunción, Paraguay from August 2-6, 2025, ahead of Guyana’s historic debut in Archery at the 2025 Junior Pan American Games.

This exciting opportunity comes as a result of the activation of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Guyana Olympic Association (G.O.A.) and the Paraguayan Olympic Committee, which provided for the participation of one male athlete, one female athlete, and one coach in the training camp.

The selection was based on the winners and rankings from the 2024 Recurve Category competitions, ensuring that athletes were chosen on merit and recent performance. The female spot was initially offered to Roshini Boodhoo, the highest-ranked female recurve archer from 2024, who unfortunately had to decline due to personal reasons. The opportunity was then extended to second-ranked female recurve archer from 2024 Karin Toppin, who graciously accepted and will benefit from the full training experience.

Following the conclusion of the training camp, Karin Toppin will return to Guyana, while Lucas Chung and Coach Jeewanram Persaud will remain in Asuncion, Paraguay to represent Guyana in archery at the Junior Pan Am Games - a historic first for our country.

All associated costs, including airfare, internal transportation, accommodation, meals, and training, are fully covered under this international collaboration. Participants will receive:

* International air transportation
* Internal transfers to training venues
* Accommodation at the Olympic Park Hotel
* Full board (breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner)
* Access to Olympic-standard training facilities
* Use of the Olympic Gymnasium and SND High-Performance Gym
* Support from a dedicated sports science department
* Structured training programmes with international coaches

This marks a proud and exciting moment for the Federation and the nation, as Guyana steps confidently into the Junior Pan American archery arena for the very first time.

Archery Guyana Athletes Selected for High-Performance Training Camp in Paraguay Ahead of Historic Junior Pan Am Games Debut

Archery Guyana Continental Judge, Nicholas Hing joined 16other World Archery International Judges and World Archery Americas Continental Judges for the First Stage of the Hyundai Archery World Cup in the city of Puebla, Mexico, which ran from April 7 to 12. 

The Archery World Cup is an Olympic qualifier which will be heldin 5 stages, with the first one being completed in Puebla, Mexico. The otherswill be held in Shanghai, China in May; Antalya, Turkiye in June; Madrid, Spain in July and finally in Saltillo, Mexico in September. 

This year also marks the 20th anniversary of the Hyundai Archery World Cup, which featured archers from over 30 countries.

Mr Hing was the first Guyanese to have judged at a World Cup Qualifier event, along with a few other judges, under the leadership of International Judge and WAA Secretary General Sergio Font Milian, and his Deputy Chair Shannon Russel-Cowan. 

Official practice started on Tuesday 7, which kept all the judges busy with field, equipment and uniform inspection. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday were ranking and elimination rounds. Judges’ meetings were held every morning by the Chair and Deputy Chair before the start of the days’ events to delegate the various tasks to the team.

On Thursday evening all visiting and local teams and officials were invited to dinner and a cultural show hosted by the state of Puebla, and on Friday evening, the teams and officials were invited to the grand opening ceremony resplendent with a laser light show, fireworks, a contortionist archer who shot with her feet, and speeches by officials including the Governor of Puebla, President of World Archery and President of World Archery Mexico.

The Final matches culminated in historic downtown Puebla on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12, with its 450-year-old Cathedral De Puebla as the backdrop. The judges were divided into 2 teams. One team for the medal matches, where the international judges along with some of the continental judges were based at the shooting line and target area, and the second team of continental judges at the practice field. Judge Hing’s team, consisting of several Mexican continental judges, oversaw the coordination of the archers on the practice field before and after each medal match. 

World Archery President, Mr Greg Easton personally thanked each judge for a job well done at this first stage of the Hyundai Archery WorldCup. 

“Since becoming a continental judge, I have had the good fortune of working with many wonderful judges from around the world, and this was no different, except this Archery World Cup Qualifier will be one of my most memorable experiences, especially working directly under Mr Sergio Font.”Hing said.
